Retirámos o tempo do seu contexto habitual - relógios, calendários, cronómetros - para analisarmos o modo como o nosso dia-a-dia é regulado pelos objectos que nos rodeiam. A nossa vida consiste na soma de tempo que despendemos com cada objecto. Desde o começo do dia, onde o valor é calculado pela quantidade de tempo que um cubo de açúcar demora a dissolver-se no café, até ao final, onde o avançar do marcador do livro nos informa quanto tempo demorou a nossa leitura. A passagem do tempo é assim medida através do consumo de objectos do quotidiano, cuja importância substituiu o regular tique-taque do relógio pelo assobio da cafeteira, pelo riscar do fósforo na caixa e pelo disparar da torradeira. O tempo é apreciado, o tempo é poupado, o tempo é ordenado, acelerado e abrandado. Nas nossas actividades quotidianas e aspirações o tempo é sentido através da nossa interacção com os objectos.

We’ve taken time out of it’s normal context - clocks, calendars, timers - to analyze how our time is ruled by the objects that surround us. Our life is the sum of time we spend with each object/engagement. Since the beginning of the day, when you measure your time by how long it takes for a sugar cube to dissolve in your coffee, right through to the end, where you measure the time you spend reading by the positioning of your bookmark. The passage of time is measured by the consumption of everyday objects, which have become so important that we are no longer ruled by the tick-tocking of the clock but by the wheezing of the kettle, the striking against a match box and the popping of the toaster. Time is appreciated, time is saved, time is ordered, accelerated/quickened and slowed. In our daily activities and aspirations time is felt through objects and our interaction with them.

BIZARRE na Sisley
Uma insólita colecção de cerâmica reinventa uma das mais importantes tradições portuguesas. Através de uma abordagem contemporânea do antigo “savoir-faire”, Sam Baron recria os souvenirs do passado a partir da fusão de elementos naturalistas típicos da cerâmica portuguesa com objectos decorativos de formas mais clássicas.A colecção Bizarre invade a loja da Sisley do Chiado com criaturas híbridas e estranhas: uma jarra testemunha o beijo de dois cisnes, uma outra acolhe as orelhas de um coelho indiscreto, um prato em cuja superfície mergulha um peixe, e um saleiro e pimenteiro onde tem lugar uma longa conversa entre uma abelha e um coelho. Todas as peças são feitas à mão e produzidas pela Olfaire, nas Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.

An eccentric collection of ceramics re-invents one of the best Portuguese traditions, through a contemporary vision of the old “savoir-faire”. Sam Baron assembles a futuristic approach of souvenirs inherited from the past, merging details of a long tradition of nature inspired shapes with classic vases and tableware pieces.The Bizarre collection populates the Sisley store in Chiado with strange, hybrid creatures: from a vase which hosts a kissing couple of swans or with indiscreet rabbit ears, to the plate that seems to have a fish swimming in it, or the salt and pepper set where a bee is having a gentle conversation with a mouse. The ceramics are made by hand and produced by Olfaire, in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal.
